Piecefull West Coast Country Living
This large stand in Leipoldtville offers beautiful views of the nearby mountains and is a mere 20 minutes away from the Atlantic Ocean at Elands Bay and 30 minutes from Lamberts Bay.
Leipoldtville is a very small West Coast town centrally located between Lambertsbaai (29km), Elandsbaai (18km), Graafwater (20km), and Clanwilliam (53km). Leipoldtville is essentially a private agricultural community and is largely self-governed. All residents, young and old, work diligently to contribute to the community's sustainability.
It has a very good private school, as well as a government school, satellite clinic of Vredendal hospital, general dealer, two churches, and a filling station. Because of the private school, Leipoldtville has a very young active community. Single people have also settled here because it is so safe. The oldest resident is eighty years old. All higher medical care facilities are in Vredenburg, which is 109km away.
Leipoldtville has its own security and solar-powered night vision cameras at all intersections and access roads to the town. A "Kontrei Kuierfees" takes place here annually during the flower-watching season. Leipoldtville is central to one of the main botanical regions in the Cape flower kingdom – known as the Leipoldtville Sand-fynbos Region. Here is a special ecosystem with a great variety of fauna and flora. Furthermore, the region has very special rock art and caves. It also has a riding school and shooting club. Seasonal hunting takes place here, which involves a large field picnic. There are walking and mountain bike routes.
Sederberg Municipality plans a water plant from Clanwilliam dam to Leipoldtville and Elandsbaai. Leipoldtville is fortunate to be away from municipal corruption and connivance. Until the water is supplied from Clanwilliam, rainwater and boreholes are used as water supply sources.
Leipoldtville properties are slightly more expensive than Graafwater, but Leipoldtville is closer to the sea and the place has a "West Coast Greyton" atmosphere. There is no informal housing or squatting here, only families who have worked in the potato industry for generations, mostly Nama and Khoi descendants.
